The Police Auxiliary has been serving the University of Maryland – College Park campus since 1973. Since then it has evolved into a highly specialized unit in providing security and services to the campus.
The Police Auxiliary is an integral part of the University of Maryland Department of Public Safety’s role in securing the campus. We strive to provide the best service to our students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Since this position only employs students of the UMD system, most employees feel that they are contributing, in some way, back to the community that is providing them with a high level college education. In doing so, we believe that our employees are more dedicated to their tasks and roles in our campus’s overall safety and security compared to other on campus positions.
Our Unit is directed by an Auxiliary Services Coordinator, who handles the day to day operations, and is overseen by the Police Auxiliary Commander, the commander of the Police Auxiliary Unit.
Currently, the Auxiliary Services Coordinator is Mr. Josephus Perryand the Police Auxiliary Commander is Lt. Jeffrey Killion.
